QUOTE: "If you expose yourself to a lie long enough, you'll begin to believe it."
DELIVERED TO/THROUGH: Thomas W. Pohl (circa 1997)
CONTEXT OF THE REVELATION: After reading a book one afternoon that scientifically proved that evolution was a lie, I was waiting at the bus stop waiting to go to work. I said to myself, "Lord, why do so many people believe the lie of evolution when there is so much scientific evidence that proves that creation is the truth?" Now I was half not expecting an immediate answer, figuring that it would be something that I would have to study out. To my surprise, the Holy Spirit immediately rose up within me and said, "If you expose yourself to a lie long enough, you'll begin to believe it." He then brought to my remembrance an episode from my own life where I had done just that. He then gave me an example to share with others to prove it.
Here is the example that the Lord gave me:
When you were a child, did you believe in Santa Claus? Why? It is because as a child you are constantly bombarded by images and tales of Santa Claus by your parents, family, friends and the media. They talk as if his existence is factual when in fact it is a lie. By being constantly exposed to the lie of Santa Claus children eventually begin to belive it because they have no reason to disbelieve it until they are told otherwise when they are older and the truth is revealed to them.
APPLICATION OF THE WISDOM: Find out what the Word of God has to say about it, as it is written:
"The entirety of Your word is truth..." (Psalm 119:160)
Most of the attributes atributed to Santa Claus, omniscience (he knows when you're naughty or nice) and onmipotence (he can visit every home on the planet in one night and infiltrate them via the chimney, despite his obesity or any security devices employed) are parallel to those of God Almighty Himself. However, the Word of God says:
"You are my witnesses, says the Lord, And my servant whom I have chosen, That you may believe Me, And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after me." (Isaiah 43:10)
Children worship Santa like a god and want to please him like any believer would want to do for their deity. However, the Wod of God says:"I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me." (Exodus 20:2-3)
It is also written:
"...You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you worship." (Matthew 4:10)
The consequences of believing a lie are profound, for it is written:"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrigteousness of men, who supress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but becamw futile in their thoughts, and their foolish minds were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corrupible man and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, which is blessed forever. Amen." (Romans 1:18-25)
"To know wisdom and instruction, To percieve the words of understanding, To receive instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity; To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion A wise man will hear and increase learning,
And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, To understand a proverb and an enigma, The words of the wise and their riddles. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction."
(Proverbs 1:1-7)
